'Las Vegas Golden Knights' would have been a mouthful. I'm glad they dropped it. Obviously they could have gone with a 1-word team name instead but they were obviously set on <something> Knights so what can you do.

I don't know, the extra three letter, one syllable word doesn't jumble it up for me.  I can see over time more people referring to the team as the Las Vegas Knights than the Vegas Golden Knights.

As for the logo, I'd have to see it on a jersey to get its true effect.  Right now it looks decent to me, but nothing great.

Not having 'Las' in the name makes it incomplete.

As already reflected by its wikipedia page, the helmet seems based on the design of a medieval helmet known as a barbute:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbute

Interesting. Still not particularly knightly. More foot soldier-esque.

I wonder if that has something to do with wanting a logo that's fairly distinct from the Army one.

The barbute is based on a Greek hoplite helmet. Seems like a weak design justification.

Nonetheless, I do like it from the visual side of things.

More importantly: what font will they use in connection with it? :P

Maybe? But quite a few helmets had that sort of noseguard/facial coverings. Here, for instance, is a 8th century Anglo-Saxon helmet:

Ooooh are we talking type design again?!?!?

Could they be considering a Fraktur?  Maybe a Transitional Humanist?

How long do Vegas have to keep players selected in the expansion draft?

If a team doesn't want to trade a player but has to risk exposing them in expansion, could you work out a deal with Vegas to pick that player and then Vegas trades you the guy they just selected for a pre-determined trade return?

I haven't seen anything to suggest that once a player is taken in the expansion draft he isn't then Vegas' to do with as they like.

Thing is I can't imagine Vegas would be inclined to do anyone favours at their own detriment so you'd effectively be paying market rate for that player.

I imagine they'll probably be the Las Vanquished Golden Knights for a few seasons.  :)
