I like the idea of Black Knights better, or just Knights.

Vegas Nights has an even nicer ring to it.  :P

By most accounts they would have gone with Black Knights if it weren't for the US Military Academy owning the copyright to it.

And the London Knights owned the Knights name.

Yeah, I wondered about that. I guess teams can have the same name if they're in different sports? I'm sure that makes sense for one reason or another but it escapes me.

I like the logo, but find it kind of strange that it's a Spartan helmet instead of a knight's.  But I think the name is stupid and don't like that they used the same(ish) colour scheme as the Penguins & Bruins.  For whatever reason, it also kind of bugs me that they dropped the Las part of the city's name.  Oh well....  :-\

I don't get where you're seeing a similar colour scheme to the Penguins or Bruins:

Would prefer to see some resemblance of a puck or stick in the logo. It just doesn't have a hockey feel to it.

The bit in the PR about the team colours is just awful cringeworthy (at best)

Quote
The team's colors - steel grey, gold, red and black - reflect the community and the focus of the team:

Steel grey represents strength and durability
Nevada is the largest producer of gold in the United States, it is a highly-valued precious metal and is a color seen in the Las Vegas terrain
Red is from the Vegas skyline, the desert and the beauty of the Red Rock canyons; red is also a color associated with the readiness to serve
Black represents power and intensity

I think the NBA has a rule that all logos have to have a basketball in them so as to always be promoting the sport in a way that overcomes language barriers. Problem is you can't have that rule and only apply it to some teams and not others and I'd hate the Leafs to have to incorporate a hockey stick next time they redesign theirs.

Like numerology, you can make colors refer to anything.

"Our primary color, pink, evokes the unparalleled desert sunset, and its complement, EMT high-vis yellow, calls forth fond recollections of watching first responders making heroic geriatric calls in the penny slots."

I was just going by the logo they revealed last night and saw the black and gold.  This is much better!

Not having 'Las' in the name makes it incomplete.

'Las Vegas Golden Knights' would have been a mouthful. I'm glad they dropped it. Obviously they could have gone with a 1-word team name instead but they were obviously set on <something> Knights so what can you do.

LeBrun had a good tweet to the effect of can't wait to see the Angeles Kings take them on.

Stupid name.  The logo is OK, though a little too much like the sens' gladiolus concept. (ahem)

I like the logo, including the incorporation of the V. It is strange that the design seems inspired by Greek hoplites, rather than medieval Knights.

Agreed. From a design POV, I think it's pretty good.

As already reflected by its wikipedia page, the helmet seems based on the design of a medieval helmet known as a barbute:
