Earlier this week, 60 Minutes aired this:

There's a lot of smoke emanating from this lab.

Last year, a German documentary team already walked through the process with the Stepanovs (from the 60 Minutes segment).

While this sucks, does anyone really still believe that athletes aren't doping at the highest levels of sport?

It's a constant game of cat and mouse where the dopers create new methods to cheat, the testers catch that method and at that point the cheaters have moved on to the next method.

Simply put, if you're not cheating, you're not trying.

There is far too much money riding on all of this to leave it to young Jimmy working really hard in the weight room.

I mean recovery time alone should tell most people that it's near impossible to train/compete the way modern athletes do without real help.

I think it's one thing for athletes to try to get whatever edge they can. It's quite another when it is state sanctioned. I agree that Russia is just the tip of the iceberg (and I'm not deliberately picking on Russia, as it just so happens all their secrets are hitting the fan at the moment).

China literally breeds for athletics, like horses are deliberately bred for racing. Yao Ming was a commissioned creation.

You're right herman, the fact that this is coming out and it's state sanctioned is news.

It's just the righteous indignation that's accompanied the story that has rubbed me the wrong way.

I mean people are flat out lying by reacting that way because they know it goes on at all levels of sports.

I mean the testing in most sports is an intelligence test, if you get caught it's your own fault.

When whistleblowers have to flee the country for their lives, it's pretty extreme.
Kind of funny how the US and Russia are trading whistleblowers.

Would love to see Russia tossed from the Olympics for this. Can't wait to see the IOC lose their balls and back down on sanctions.

All Russian athletes are dope.

Or how an entire country's athletes avoid contact with the Zika virus 101.

So the IOC has backed off on tossing Russia out of the games completely. They have put it on the individual sports federations to decide.

Always leave it to the IOC to take the cowardly way out.

The International Olympic Committee has banned Russia from competing at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, following a vote on Tuesday.

However, it allows for individual Russian athletes "under strict conditions" to compete as an "Olympic Athlete from Russia [OAR]" without their national flag or anthem, according to a release from the IOC.

Pardon my language, but that's fking ridiculous.

Either ban them, or don't.
