I say, what do they have to lose?  He's got some speed and a few neato tricks, and hopefully they translate over here.

I wonder if he comes over now to finish out this season, or waits until the next one?

One of the reporters tweeted that he isn't eligible for the AHL or NHL untul next season.

All his goals were scored at even strength this season, from what I heard.

If he plays his cards right he could be the next Christian Hanson, Brayden Irwin or even Rickard Wallin!!

At least Burke isn't here touting him as a potential impact guy

I don't get this viewpoint.  Hanson and Irwin were both already 23 and coming out of college, not 21 and a men's pro league.  Wallin wasn't a bad gamble - at best it worked out, at worst it didn't cost much if he didn't.

Some quotes from him:

For the mobile users:

@IgorEronko

#TML newcomer Nikita Soshnikov to TASS: '#Leafs made an offer a month ago. It's been a longstanding dream to get to the #NHL so I accepted'

Quote
@IgorEronko

More Soshnikov: 'I could stay in the #KHL for another year, but #TML are going to rebuild so there's a good chance to make the roster'

Quote
@IgorEronko

Nikita Soshnikov was 10+12 in last 26 #KHL gms since #Atlant sold all its leaders and he was promoted to the 1st line

Totally agree. When your prospect base is as weak as ours, you have to make these kinds of moves. Even if only one in ten contribute anything significant you are ahead. No sense carping about trying it.

Do you think Shanahan believes/верить in Russian players after his time with Detroit?  Wouldn't be surprised to see he's got the Leafs scouting pretty intensely over there.  Maybe the curse of Ballard lives on and can only be broken by having Russian players on the team.  Gilmour made the Leafs good, but it was Borschevsky that made them potential champions!  The reason for this season's collapse, the Hockey Gods found out Komarov is actually Finnish.
