good luck to Canada, Sweden and what ever other country is represented on these boards.. I will be pulling for my country (USA) but will be honest.. this tournament seems to mean way more to folks in Canada than here in states. I will watch all of the USA games and hope they win but if they lose oh well.. It's not the end of the world for me..

The U.S. defeated Finland 2-1, thanks to Jack Eichel's shootout winner.  Eichel's two points  propelled Team U.S.A. in this game, which featured some pretty dramatic saves on the part of both goaltenders, Thatcher Demko of the U.S., and Hannu Jortikka of Finland.

After taking a 2 goal to 0 lead, Team Denmark not only allowed Team Russia to stage a comeback in tying the game but also lost in the shootout, with the final score being 3-2.

The Russians anted up their skating, outshooting Denmark halfway through the game.

The Danes who have two drafted players -- Nikolaj Ehlers (Winnipeg Jets), & Oliver Bjorkstaand (Columbus Blue Jackets) -- were happy even though they lost their first game to Russia.  Denmark is currently in it's third year of participation in the WJC.

Nice story. Read here:

Nylander with a goal in the Sweden game and according to the IIHF recap: "Wearing Borje Salming’s 21, Nylander acquitted himself well in the victory."
