Eugenie Bouchard makes Canadian tennis history

At the 2014 Australian Open, CanadIan Women's tennis player Eugenie Bouchard, who hails from La Belle Province (Montreal),  defeated  top-ranked Ana Ivanovic, thus becoming the first Canadian to reach a Semi-final in a major open in 30 years.

This isn't the first time that Bouohard beat Ivanovic.  Ivanovic lost to Bouchard also at last year's Wimbledon Championship
in the second round.

Carling Bassett was the last Canadian to reaoh a Grand Slam
Semi-Final at the U.S. Open in 1984.

While celebrating the great accomplishments, it would be nice if the topic subject included the correct spelling of her name (not Bouohard.....Bouchard) ;).

I agree with this.

As for the quoted comments, puh-lease. Girls hoot and holler over "cute" hockey and baseball players all the time. People who have a slight interest or knowledge in a particular sport usually find superficial things to comment on.

Besides, people have made many comments about Milos' name too. I don't see any double standard, at least with regards to the few comments in this thread, anyway.
