Great news on Andraes Johnson, huge upside, good to have a young sniper in our future.

Previous winners of the SHL rookie of the year include NHLers Patric Hornqvist, Nicklas Backstrom, Loui Eriksson, and Henrik Zetterberg.  Never a bad thing to be in that company, even if it doesn't necessarily mean anything for Johnson in particular.

The interesting thing is apparently this past summer he got medication for an asthma issue which had really affected his stamina.  Maybe that affected him to such a degree that the Leafs could have really lucked out here.

Ya I read that as well, where his asthma was holding him back, to get that sorted (and I suffer as well from it) would be huge for any  young athlete. He seems to have a huge work ethic and is very coachable. I think we may have a sleeper in this one.
What I really like is the Marlies are starting to stock up on some really potentially good forwards, as they seem to be set with the D-Men for our future.
