Leaf fans???
« on: October 30, 2013, 07:47:10 AM »
What is with some leaf fans, and even worse the press that print this stuff. every time I look at a post or newspaper, I see someone picking apart the #1 team in the east.
why do they cut up the players ?. If all they do is look for fault how can they be enjoying the game. Ten years of crap, and now were one of the best, yet them fans and we all know one or two, keep chopping Leaf players down.

Bozak was doing a great job, now he is hurt and these people are almost kicking him off the team. He is on the top line and Kadri is second line. This keeps it so we can throw more then one line at teams.
But I guess some so called fans need to have a player to cut up I guess.
Well I for one think the leafs are a better Team then we have been looking at thus far. I will be glad to See Bozak back.

Maybe they know successful teams are always critiquing themselves and striving to be even better and that, despite their record, the team has yet to play up to their full potential so said critiquing is in fact warranted.

I know it's going in one ear and out the other, though.

I do agree to a large degree.  It actually is a part of why I mostly read the various forums but post less and less.  But this site in particular is pretty good, not as extreme in the vitriol that is spewed for sure.  Is it an age thing?  Or is it the down side of keyboard warriors not having to accountable for what they post?  Anyway, it's pretty unfortunate.

You bring up Bozak.  I consider his ceiling to be a 25+ year old Peter Zezel.  Nothing wrong with that, but he's no <25 year old Peter Zezel.  He's a little overpaid, to be expected as a UFA signing.  Being a defensive presence isn't a bad thing, but fans expect a Mats Sundin-type.  It's traditional thinking that neglects the realization that the #1 RW is 2nd in league scoring.  But reality is, he's been past offensively by Kadri and Bolland.

I think you're too sensitive sometimes nutman. It's never going to be all flowers and rainbows regardless of how well the Leafs are playing.

On other sites I've seen, it's a product of age, trolling and ignorance, a lot of trolling. But I don't think there is anything wrong with critique, always holding the bar higher makes you a better team.

Let's also be honest, I'm sure most people here, if not all, are pretty happy with our record and can see the improvements this team has made and is currently making, but we haven't seen their best hockey, we haven't even seen a completely full team yet.

I don't think the negative comments are that bad right now, we've read a lot worse.

Totally agree, i've been a part of this site since 1999, and enjoyed the knowledge of the bloggers, yet have felt a bit awkward on leaving my opinion even though I do enjoy the game. Not very often do you come across a positive poster, and most of your bloggers are of the negative side. I understand everybody is welcome to their opinion but, there is always somebody in this organization that is getting fired, traded or just voted off the island. I'm still a leaf fan no matter what and will continue to weed thru the BS and read the hockey knowledgeable opinions. You know who you are. Thanks for letting me vent and follow the leafs thru the best leaf blog out there. GLG.

There are tons and tons of predominantly "positive" posters on this site.

No way.  Nutman is the conductor of a very small orchestra in that regard.  I think, for the most part, the appeal of this site is that the most informed and knowledgable posters are pragmatic and can, usually, put aside emotion and make a rational observation.  There are a few outliers, of course.  But I would not say the "positive" posters are great in number to any degree.  In fact, the "Debbie Downers" easily outway the eternal optimists on here.

And with that said, I personally like the balance the Nutman brings.  He's the ying to so many equally irrational yangs.

No, nutman is in another world of sunshine and lollipops all to his own.  Beyond that there are lots of posters here who are very positive without veering into the fantasy and the absurd.

The Leafs are the most hated team in the NHL, and a lot of sports writers are going to pander to that demographic.  And most fans don't know what they're talking about and just repeat what they've read elsewhere.

Doesn't bother me, though.  I am glad I have this place, though, as the community here is pretty great.  <3

Maybe.  But aside from Nutman's staunch assertion that Joe Colborne would be the future #1 centre for the Maple Leafs, he hasn't really been that wrong.  I could probably put togetehr a dcent argument that what he's demonstrated more than anyone is patience.  I get it, even a broken clock is right twice a day, but he held firm to his opinion of Kessel, Reimer, and Phaneuf and, at least right now, has been deemed correct about them.

You know, I know that none of us like to revel in it and it's generally considered in poor taste to mention it but when you say something like this I really feel it needs to be reiterated that we're talking about a team that really hasn't come all that close to winning a championship in nearly 50 years yet charges their fans more money to watch them play than just about any other in all of professional sports.

Ya but who cares!  I can't wait for Tyler Hobozak to come back to claim his birthright as #1 centre!
