Crummy performance by Scrivens?
Marlies outshooting Lake Erie 28-14; have a 9-2 PP advantage and are trailing 3-0.
The brunt of the fault on the first goal was a defensive breakdown by the skaters.
The second goal might have been stoppable. It certainly wasn't soft. The opponent was allowed to break right in on Scrivens. It was a perfect backhand roofer over Scrivens shoulder. Because the player might have come out in front to try to go around Scrivens as he broke in, I'm having some trouble faulting Scrivens for going down to his knees on the play.
The trouble on the third goal began with a poor clearing attempt by Scrivens that got intercepted. That change in possession ultimately led to a point shot that was partially screened, may have been tipped and Scrivens seemed to complain of interference - he may have had a case.
4th goal was into an empty net.
The Marlies went 0-12 on the PP. It was a weakness last year. Hopefully, they can get that straightened out. It did seem that a number of their shots went into the pads of Pickard - Jonas Hoglund-like.
