Francois Allaire confirms he's left the #Leafs: "I didn't feel like I could do my job last year." More to come.

@RenLavoieRDS and his middle initial reported this morning that Francois Allaire is leaving Maple Leafs. Rick St. Croix among possible replacements, but wonder if Toronto will consider Andy Nowicki. He was James Reimer's guru and did a great job with him. .

No huge shock that Francois Allaire may leave the Leafs. Rumours were he was unhappy much of last season, in part due to all the criticism.

I'm surprised and not surprised both at the same time.  I thought the whole issue surrounding him blew over.

This is a bit strange to me.  I thought when we were hearing all the criticism someone assured he wasn't going anywhere.  and now this.  oh well.

But it sounds like he's leaving, not that he was let go.

The timing is weird, being this close to the imaginary season starting.

Wonder if a replacement is in line already as if camp started this week they would have been up a creek without a goaltending coach.  Not a good thing given the challenges in that dept.

I think Jeff Reese is available

What do you mean he couldn't take the criticism? I didn't see anything in that article that talks about that.

My fault - my original post had a Mirtle tweet that references it.  It's there now.

Rick St. Croix is an excellent adult filmstar name.

Seems a bit strange, but realistically these sorts of personnel changes happen all the time.  On the other hand, sort of makes you wonder if there was in fact legitimacy to some of the things being said / speculated on last year.

Apparently Scrivens is saying he will continue to work with Allaire at his camps...

Allaire.. not leaving on terribly friendly terms.

http://sports.nationalpost.com/2012/09/17/francois-allaire-quits-leafs-i-couldnt-do-my-job/

This indeed sounds troubling:

“To be honest, I don’t think the Leafs need a goalie coach,” Allaire, whose contract expired at the end of the season, said in a phone interview on Monday. “I think they have enough of them. They have two or three guys who were making decisions with the goalies. In the NHL, that’s not the way it works.

“If that’s the way they want to operate, then I’m not there.”
