But, now what am I supposed to do when someone makes an insufferably bad joke?

Go on a rampage?

Maybe, but that just smacks of effort.

In my day we'd go to the trouble of thinking up a sarcastic put-down. The Futurama-ier the better.

I hate to say I told you so, but...

Though I must say, I will miss the karma.  I was really pulling for Nik to hit -500.

To be honest I NEVER used it to applaude people, only smite people. I think it's fair to say most people here cared a little about their karma rating despite claiming not to give a shit, haha.

No karma, no applause, no smite.  Just good old-fashioned posting. Much better than anything else we could think of.  Keep it this way.

I have to admit I'm not sad to see it go at all. There's enough immaturity and misbehavior around here already, that feature just gave people a way to be spiteful to eachother.

I'd give kudos to whoever made this decision, but....

 ;D

And an early Merry Christmas to you, my friends  :)

Ah, your Rob Ford support is starting to make a little more sense... ;)

Personally I was the opposite; never smited only applauded good posts.

Me too, only applauded posts or posters I thought were deserving, which was quite a few.

I wonder if the idea had been more on a post by post basis some of the silliness would have sorted itself out?

Apparently, some people didn't get that the points system was called "karma".  You get out what you put in...

Kudos to guys like Tigger and Andy.

Might have worked a little better if it was set so that only 1 smite or applause per day per person vs. 1 per hour.

That might have dealt with the trollies who had their finger on the smite button all day (or night, as in the case of my secret admierer) long.

Oh well.

lol, I never would have said that about Ford if the karma feature was still there. Would have been -20 within a day!
