Passing project data is now public for the past 4 seasons!

In the scene that played out on the TV in the background, another unforgettable photo was captured. In it? Head coach Sheldon Keefe, seven years after first joining forces with Dubas and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, handing his friend and boss his first championship trophy as a manager.

By the time Dubas and Keefe stepped off Ricohs ice for celebrations in the locker room, the former had already shown the latter the photo.

I think in that photo you could see the passion that Kyle has for whats been happening here. I think, really, in many ways it should have been him passing it to me. Thats perhaps more symbolic, Keefe said. Ive been incredibly grateful to coach this team. Kyle brought me here and believed in me. To be able to deliver feels good. Handing it off to him, it was poetic.

When Keefe was first hired I kind of pooh-pooh'd that Dubas would hire an old hand rather than cast a wider net. I'm very glad to have been super wrong. These two work so well together and it was fantastic to see it culminate into a trophy hand-off and, as Justin Bourne so eloquently put it, a WWE-style celebration for Dubas.

I feel the same way about the answer just before it.
What do you make of the idea that Kyle Dubas has to make a big splash in his first few months as Leafs GM?

Dubas: It doesn't affect me. We have to make good decisions. I dont think I have to do anything big just to do so. I think that would be a disservice to the organization, frankly. Its not about me. Its about the players and the coaches. I dont think there is any need for me to do anything that isn't right for the organization. If what people describe as a big splash happens to make our team a lot better, then well do it, but its not something that is important to me, at all.

My lord, he is so engaging. It's so refreshing to have a GM who's willing to speak candidly, while still not divulging sensitive information.

I really couldn't stand the Lou era. I'm so glad it's done.

His answers are tinged with Lou-isms though. And overtly referenced at one point. I added the interjection that MLHS skipped over.

Have you made any firm decisions with your UFAs, to move on from any of them?

Dubas: Not necessarily firm. The door is always open. We are evaluating where things are at. They can start talking to teams on June 25. Well just take our time that we are afforded here and continue to stay in touch with their respective representations and roll from there.

Have there been many talks with those representatives?

Dubas: Im not going to get into Youll never get that from me here, so Im sorry.

Reporter: *sarcastically* Thanks, Lou.

Dubas: *laughs* I graduated from that school, so yeah.

I don't care about the World Cup or soccer, but this tickled me.

This is the Marlies locker clean out press availability for Dubas.

He talks about the Calder Cup win, the efforts of the staff and players, but the questions naturally gravitated towards the draft (Dubas approach, and came just short of saying he had nothing to do with the 2016 and 2017 drafts), and team building going forward. He also touched on something I hoped would happen: that the early Leafs exit would afford the non-Marlies staff a long look at some of the internal options.

Martin Marincins music. Who might actually have a leg up on Rosen/Borgman because he plays the defensive PK big man role that the Leafs dont have.

Gilman getting down to business.

I think Greening and Clune might be Marlies lifers now.

A 2039 draft option. Tiny wittle pads!

That's not a knock; this is a knock:

Assuming the WAR metric used here is reasonable-ish (and the issues would be systematic anyway)... I'm cool with this. Keep up the good work, GMMB.

So you're saying private emails are par for the course throughout Washington and didn't warrant the level of scrutiny and vitriol that was levelled against Clinton in the name of 'balanced' reporting.

Justin Bourne on the Marlies' behind-the-scenes family of support crew, trainers, and specialists.

Surprisingly no shoutout to the food and nutrition staff?
