Dubas getting to work!

Envgall and Lindgren were prospects that were drafted in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Lindholm and Ozhiganov were two European free agent signings that have been rumoured for awhile now.

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / 2018 Draft Targets
« on: April 26, 2018, 08:41:01 AM »
No time to waste folks, let's start taking a closer look at the draft this year. Our draft position isn't 100% in stone yet, but we'll be in the 23-25 range. Capfriendly with the deets:

Here's Sportsnet and TSN's most recent draft rankings from March: https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/sportsnets-2018-nhl-draft-prospect-rankings-march/
https://www.tsn.ca/craig-s-list-bouchard-rocketing-up-draft-board-1.1031499

And here's a consolidate rankings list from the Nation Network: https://canucksarmy.com/2018/04/20/2018-nhl-draft-consolidated-industry-rankings-for-april-2018/

If we're looking for a swing-for-the-fences pick, Ryan Merkley could very well be available around our pick. He's an undersized right-handed defenceman with all the offensive skills in the world but struggles in the defensive end and has been criticized for having attitude problems.

PPP looks at Merkley and some other potential candidates in an article today here: https://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/2018/4/26/17280952/toronto-maple-leafs-draft-pick-position-2018-merkely-woo-thomas-noel-sandin-mcleod-olofsson-groulx

General NHL News & Views / NHL Awards Finalists
« on: April 18, 2018, 09:39:59 AM »
The league is starting to announce the finalists for this years awards. First up were the Vezina finalists:

Rinne should win this in a landslide. It's a little disappointing that 3 of the top-4 goalies in Sv% didn't get noms... particularly Fleury and Gibson.

Vasilevskiy finished 9th in Sv% and only had a .912 save percentage since December 8th... it's like everybody pencilled him in after November and forgot that pencil can be erased.

Game Notes

BOS
•Rask will start for the Bruins
•The line of Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak has a combined 20 points through 2 games
•It's expected that Riley Nash will return to the line-up at his 3C position for the Bruins. He missed the last 5 games of the regular season and the first 2 playoff games after taking a puck off his helmet

TOR
•Andersen will start for the Leafs
•Projected Leafs lines are just how they started game 2, so don't read into them too much
•Komarov was getting checked out on Sunday after leaving Saturday's game with a lower body injury. Not going to speculate as to who would replace him, but it could be Leivo or Martin or maybe even Grundstrom perhaps?
•Other changes to the line-up could possibly be coming given how poorly the Leafs have performed through 2 games. Could Moore replace Plekanec? Could Carrick draw in somewhere?
•With home ice advantage finally in Babcock's hands, it'll be interesting to see who he plays with Matthews and who he plays against Bergeron

Injuries

•Brandon Carlo - Ankle - Out for season
•Anders Bjork - Shoulder - Out for season
•Tommy Wingels - Upper Body - Questionable Monday
•Riley Nash - Head - Probable Monday

•Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
•Joffrey Lupul - Actually Injured - Out indefinitely
•Leo Komarov - Lower Body - Questionable Monday
