Pronman's Top 50, midseason edition

Leafs have #13 Liljegren, #15 Kapanen, and #49 Bracco. Dermott was exempted due to 'graduating' (i.e. in the NHL at the time of assessment).

Korshkov won't be crossing the pond for at least one more season.

Oh no. Now I'm worried that pick will end up being a bad one.

FWIW since the coaching change on Korshkov's team he has been one of the leading forwards in ice-time and his production really ramped up.

He could have a really big year playing in an excellent league next season, that's probably more valuable than him being a depth piece on the Marlies.

I'm not ready to write him off just yet.

What's going on with Liljegren? Is he going to make the team next season?

Lucky for you I was born ready.

I wouldn't count on it. Another year, or maybe half year like Dermott, of AHL seasoning is probably for the best.

I'll take your word for it, but his numbers still don't look very encouraging:

Yeah, I'd definitely avoid rushing him just because on a surface level he sort of fits what the Leafs are looking for right now. He'll only be 19 going into camp and I think the Leafs should want to see him really dominate the AHL before they look at him as a solution to their issues.

Rasanen has signed with Helsingin Jokerit in the KHL (2 year deal), along with former Leaf Viktor Loov.

This will put him closer to home and on a significantly higher paygrade while he develops.

JD Greenway (LHD, 2016-3rd rd pick) has size, skating, and decent hands, but has flown largely under the radar due to not playing in the CHL or a pro league. He took most of last season off for personal reasons, so hopefully he'll be refreshed and raring to show what he's capable of.

Hunter drafted him 28 picks ahead of Victor Mete, who Hunter gave up 6 OHL draft picks for when Mete was 16 years old.

But yeah, uber scout ok.

edit: to clarify a little here, I get that mistakes happen on draft day. But if there was a single individual in any NHL scouting department who should have known how good Victor Mete was going to be it should have been Hunter, and he passed on him twice in the 3rd round where nearly all scouting services had him going.
