The American Hockey League announced on Monday that Toronto Marlies centre Nazem Kadri has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 18, 2012.

Kadri had eight points (one goal, seven assists) 4 games last week, and is riding a five-game point streak since being a healthy scratch vs. Texas on November 9. (2 goals, nine assists).

The 2009 first-round pick of the Maple Leafs had his best game on Saturday when he tied a franchise record with four assists in the Marlies 6-1 win over Hamilton.

Nazem Kadri is on a tear.

On November 9 before the Marlies’ game against Texas, both he and Joe Colborne were healthy scratches. Since then, Kadri has been picking up the points at an accelerated pace.

Kadri’s four assists in Toronto’s 6-1 win over Hamilton on Saturday afternoon gives him 10 points (one goal, 9 assists) in the four games since watching the game in Austin in civilian clothes.

The Toronto Marlies’ four-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday night. Brendan Gallagher scored two goals to lead the Bulldogs to a 6-3 win at Copps Coliseum.

The game marked the return of forward Matt Frattin to the Toronto lineup. Frattin required knee surgery after crashing the net at the end of a playoff game on May 25 and had not played since then. The 24-year-old forward wasted little time in finding the scoresheet, collecting his first two goals of the season. Jerry D’Amigo had the other Marlies goal, while Ben Scrivens took the defeat in the net.

After an eight-game road swing, the Marlies finally return to Ricoh Coliseum for games on Saturday and Sunday to face Hamilton and Abbotsford respectively.

Komarov returns to KHL

Leo Komarov has returned to the KHL to play for Dynamo Moscow, reports Ria Novosti. The 25-year-old forward signed a one year contract with Toronto, and is currently one of the leading goal scorers for the AHL Marlies (tied with Jake Gardiner with 5 each).

“He will probably arrive on Friday,” spokesman Mikhail Kravchenko said. “He will likely take part in his first match at the start of the next home series.

Komarov was the Leafs’ 6th-round draft choice, 180th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

In a bizarre game that featured a heated third period, the Toronto Marlies escaped from Oklahoma City’s Cox Convention Center with a 6-5 win in overtime. Defenceman Jake Gardiner provided the heroics for the visitors with just under 28 seconds remaining in the extra period.

With the Marlies cruising to a 4-0 first period lead and chasing Barons starting goalie Olivier Roy from the game, a fourth straight victory squad seemed imminent. Mike Zigomanis’ power-play goal at 7:10 of the third period gave Toronto a comfortable cushion heading into the final minutes of regulation.
