Rick Couchman takes a quick look around Leafland by dusting off his old column – Couch’s Corner. It’s been years since CC was last brought out of the closet – so here goes.
Just Wondering…
With Mike Brown playing so well so far, does that leave Jay Rosehill or Colton Orr as tradebait? Really, do we need two enforcers sitting in the press box? Brown has great speed, cycles the puck well in the opposition end, and drops them when needed.
The Tim Connolly Mystery…
Apparently Connolly wasn’t on the ice today at practice, which is no surprise. He’s at least day-to-day with an upper body injury. If I were a betting man, I’d say he’s got a shoulder injury.
Getting Close…
Nazem Kadri is back on the ice, and apparently practicing fairly hard. He’s not skating on one of the main lines, so he’s likely not quite ready for tomorrow night’s tilt. But expect him back shortly.
Is It Just Me???
Is Mike Komisarek not looking pretty damn good in his first couple games? He seems just a little quicker and smarter in moving the puck. He might not be Tomas Kaberle at moving the rubber out of his end, but he’s getting that much better. Much better rounded, too. I’m convinced.
Sportsnet 590 Radio…
It’s great to hear my good old buddy Mike Farwell doing sports updates on 590. I worked with Mike in Kitchener at the Rogers Radio Group – he’s a pro, and fits right in at 590.
Morning Chuckle…
I know the Leafs have had some pretty bad losses over the years, but I can’t help but smile when I think of a tired Colorado team coming in to Ottawa last night and creaming them 7-1.

Kadri should be expected back “shorty”? Is that a crack about his height?
Ahh, good catch. Thanks!
