Couch’s Corner: Kings, Playoffs, Scrivens, More

The Los Angeles Kings are in town tonight to face our Toronto Maple Leafs.  It’s televised on TSN.

The Kings are a quick skating team that is best known for its two-way play.

Joffrey Lupul  returns tonight from injury, but the Leafs will still be missing 4 regulars.

•Tyler Bozak – Oblqiue – Injured Reserve
•Dave Bolland – Ankle – Out indefinitely
•Colton Orr – Ankle – Injured Reserve
•Dion Phaneuf – Suspension

Ben Scrivens, former Leafs goalie, has filled in for injured Jonathan Quick.  He’s sporting a .943 save percentage.  It doesn’t harm that he has stud defenceman Drew Doughty playing 25 mins/game in front of him.

Leafs a Playoff Team??

James Onusko, of the Bleacher Report, takes a look at the Leafs, wondering if they’ll be a playoff team.  I’d have to argue that it’s pretty tough to assess right now.  Once a few of the injuries and suspensions level out, it’ll be much easier to say that the Leafs are contenders.

Time to Experiment…

Howard Berger take a look at the Phaneuf injury being the perfect time to experiment and give the youngsters a chance to shine.
