Maple Leafs Remembrance Day

Couch’s Corner: Remembrance Day, Steen & More

Game Day vs Devils

New Jersey comes to town tonight.  They’ve got 12 pts where the Leafs have 20.  They have a 2-6-2 record on the road.  We’ve got a great game day discussion including a full preview of both teams.  Check them out!

Remembrance Day

Lance Horby, of the Sun, reminds us that the Leafs will be honouring Remembrance Day before tonights game.  Joffrey Lupul hosts a member of the forces at all home games.  Their introduction always sparks a standing ovation from the crowd and the Leafs bench.

Hockey Hall of Fame Inductees

The Leafs will honour this year’s batch of inductees at the game.  The actual induction ceremony is Monday night.  There are four men and one woman: Chris Chelios, Scott Niedermayer and Brendan Shanahan, Fred Shero and Geraldine Heaney.

Shaking Up The D

Mark Zwolinski, of the Star, mentions that with Mark Fraser returning tonight after a 13-game injury absence it appears rookie Morgan Rielly will shift to the press box as a healthy scratch.  Reilly was paired with John-Michael Liles as the fourth and extra pairing at practice yesterday. Fraser played beside Paul Ranger. Jake Gardiner was with Cody Franson. Dion Phaneuf and Carl Gunnarsson remained together.  Fraser brings some much needed physical force to the blueline.

Happy Birthday!

Happy 89th birthday to the one and only Johnny Bower!

Steen The Scorer?

Alexander Steen, one time Leafs prospect, has scored 14 goals in the first 14 games.  And they’re not fluke goals.  He’s looking like a bonafide goal scorer.  It was about 5 years ago that the Blues traded Lee Stempniak to Toronto for Steen and Carlo Colaiacovo.

Leafs Blogosphere

Pension Plan Puppets have a neat little piece And On The Seventh Day, a tribute Wendel Clark.  Hope In The Big Smoke has an article on A Call To Arms.  The Leafs Nation has an article showing that it’s not good to be sitting Reilly.
