The turning point in the game occurred when the Marlies killed off an Aeros two-man advantage just after Leo Komarov had put Toronto to within one goal.

Jake Gardiner scored on a power-play shortly afterward. Just 29 seconds later Carter Ashton notched his second goal of the game which proved to be the eventual winning goal.

Captain Ryan Hamilton sealed the game with an empty-netter. Ben Scrivens, despite having a shaky outing, earned the victory in goal.

The Marlies next game is Friday against the Texas Stars.
