Flat Leafs thrashed by Atlanta

In a game filled with defensive miscues, the Leafs were dismantled 6-3 by the Atlanta Thrashers before a home crowd at Air Canada Centre on Tuesday night. Toronto never appeared to compete in the game, falling behind 3-0 by the 7:04 mark of the second period.

Curtis Joseph had a shaky outing in goal and is still looking for his first victory. The Leafs goals were scored by Nik Antropov, Jeff Finger and Niklas Hagman. Finger’s goal was his first in a Toronto uniform while Lee Stempniak, making his Leafs debut, registered one assist.

The game had its share of fisticuffs with Ian White going head-to-head with Ilya Kovalchuk while Jamal Mayers tangled with Garnet Exelby.

The Leafs’ next game is Thursday in Ottawa.
