Lecavalier lifts Lightning

Tampa forward Vinny Lecavalier had a pair of goals to lead the Lightning to a 3-2 victory over the Maple Leafs on Tuesday night at Air Canada Centre. Lecavalier’s first goal of the game was scored on a breakaway worthy of a highlight reel, deking goalie Vesa Toskala on a backhand.

Lightning rookie Steven Stamkos picked up his first career NHL point, an assist on Lecavalier’s second goal.

Matt Stajan and Mike Van Ryn scored the goals for Toronto. The Leafs are in New Jersey on Wednesday to face the Devils.
