Leafs open season Oct. 9 as NHL schedule released

The NHL released its 2008-09 regular season schedule on Thursday.  The Maple Leafs open on the road on Thursday October 9 when they visit the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.   Two nights later, Toronto hosts its home opener against Montreal.

The annual Hockey Hall of Fame game will be played on Saturday, November 8 when the Habs pay another visit.

During the off-season, the NHL announced an increase in the number of interconfernce games from 10 to 18, meaning every team will play each other at least once.

  1. You called it Bob, Stars lose to the Blues last night ended the soesan-tying win streak at 2. Now let’s hope the Stars can lose 3 in a row to end the soesan and improve their draft position…
