Leafs crash back to earth in home opener

Just two days after winning their opening game, the Leafs were humbled in their home opener with an embarrassing 6-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

The Habs scored 3 power-play goals within a stretch of 5:28 in the second period to put the game away. Alex Tanguay had four points in the second period, falling just one point shy of tying the team record for most points by a player in a single period.

Jason Blake had the only goal for Toronto, while Vesa Toskala was replaced by Curtis Joseph in goal to start the third period.

19,370 fans attended the game at Air Canada Centre.
