Leafs at World Championship

Team Canada defenceman Dion Phaneuf delivered a thunderous hit in Tuesday’s game against Switzerland, creating anxious moments for an opposing forward.

As reported by the Canadian Press, Swiss forward Simon Moser briefly lost consciousness after Phaneuf bodychecked the 22-year-old – who was skating with his head down – with an open-ice hit.

The hit resulted in a stoppage in play, with Moser having to leave the game briefly to receive medical attention. Moser eventually returned, playing under four minutes in the third period.

Canada defeated Switzerland 4-3 with Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues scoring the winner in overtime.
