Thursday news: Leafs flat in loss to Phoenix

The Maple Leafs listless second period in which they gave up four goals was their undoing, falling 6-3 to the Phoenix Coyotes at Air Canada Centre on Wednesday. The defeat halted the team’s home winning streak at four games.

Jamal Mayers, Phil Kessel and Alexei Ponikarovsky all scored for Toronto, whose next game is Friday in Buffalo.
