Maple Leafs alumnus Doug Gilmour has been appointed as an assistant coach of the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. ““We are thrilled to have Doug join the coaching staff of the Marlies,” said Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher. “Doug has done so much for the Leafs organization and he brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and experience to Greg Gilbert’s staff.”
Gilmour served as Leafs captain for three years and collected 452 points in 392 regular season games for Toronto, plus 77 points in 52 playoff games. The Kingston, Ontario native will have his number 93 raised to the rafters of Air Canada Centre in a ceremony on January 31 when the Leafs host Pittsburgh.
