Marlies drop Game One after getting into penalty trouble

The Toronto Marlies dropped the first game of the Western Conference Final on Friday night, losing 4-1 to the Chicago Wolves at AllState Arena.  Jason Krog, the 2007-08 AHL MVP, had a hat trick in the Wolves victory.

The Marlies fell into their old habit of finding the penalty box, taking 9 minor penalties in the game.  Chicago was 1-for-9 on the power-play.  The game was a one-goal affair until late in the third period when goaltender Scott Clemmensen allowed a weak goal from Krog from a bad angle.  Krog completed his hat trick by scoring into an empty net.

Patrick Wellar had the only goal for the Marlies.

The teams play Game Two of the series on Sunday.

Forward lines: Tlusty-J. Mitchell-Ondrus, Battaglia-Newbury-Ling, Foster-Giliati-Aubin, Wellar-Leveille-Harrington
Defence pairings: Harrison-Sifers, Wozniewski-Muir, Kronwall-Walser
Goaltenders: Clemmensen (L 59:12, 38 SV, 3 GA), Pogge (0:00), (empty net, 1 GA)
