Marlies set to open playoffs

The Toronto Marlies will begin their quest for the 2008 AHL Calder Cup title this evening as they face the San Antonio Rampage.  Game time is 7:30pm at Ricoh Coliseum.

Leafs TV will cover all home games in the opening round.  AM 640 radio will broadcast all games of the series.

As of Tuesday evening, no starting goalie has been named for the Marlies.  Scott Clemmensen and Justin Pogge shared duties evenly in the regular season, leading Toronto to the North Division title.

The Marlies will be facing a former teammate in Brendan Bell, who played three and a half years in the Maple Leafs organization and is now property of the Rampage's parent team, the Phoenix Coyotes.

Earlier in the week, Leafs prospect Jiri Tlusty was named the AHL Player of the Week.

Forward Robbie Earl is on the injury shelf and will not be available for the start of the playoffs.
