Leafs embarrassed in home finale
The Maple Leafs were shelled 8-2 by the Ottawa Senators in the team's final game at Air Canada Centre this season. Toronto finishes in the bottom five in the NHL with a home record of 18-17-6. Mark Bell and Dominic Moore scored for the Leafs while the Senators' Antoine Vermette scored a hat trick. Dany Heatley chipped in with a pair, giving him 26 goals in 31 career games played against the Leafs.
A controversial point in the game came in the first period when Bell hit Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson on what was deemed by the visitors to be a 'borderline' dirty play. Alfredsson left the game in the first period and did not return. Mike Fisher suffered a knee injury in the game; both he and Alfredsson will be out of the team's final game of the season against Boston on Friday.
The Leafs travel to Montreal to play their final game of the 2007-08 season.
