The Toronto Marlies announced their 24-man Calder Cup Playoff roster ahead of this weekend’s Round 1 opening game at Ricoh Coliseum against the Utica Comets:
The series schedule is as follows:
Game 1, Sat Apr 21 at Toronto, 4pm
Game 2, Sun Apr 22 at Toronto, 4pm
Game 3, Wed Apr 25 at Utica, 7pm
Game 4, Fri Apr 27 at Utica, 7pm if necessary
Game 5, Sun Apr 29 at Toronto, 4pm if necessary
The Marlies wrapped up their regular season on Sunday with a 4-3 win over the Belleville Senators. Jeremy Bracco scored the winning goal with 2:53 in regulation.
With Toronto resting several of their regulars, goaltender Ian Scott made his Marlies debut. Scott, a fourth-round (110th overall) pick of the Leafs in 2017, made 30 saves in the victory.
“I thought he was excellent,” coach Sheldon Keefe said. “He looked confident to me, he made some nice saves, he battled right to the very end. So, that was a really nice debut for him and I’m sure it will help his confidence going forward which is what we hope will come out of this.”
Scott, meanwhile, eventually got rid of the pre-game jitters. “I was nervous at the start, but that went away by the end of the game,” he said.
Andrew Nielsen, Pierre Engvall and Adam Brooks also scored for Toronto.
The Marlies finished with a 54-18-2-2 record and captured the MacGregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the team with the American Hockey League’s best regular season winning percentage in 2017-18.
