Noteworthy:
-Mitchell’s goal ended a streak of 112:14 minutes played at Madison Square Garden between the two teams since December 2007. On Oct. 17, 2008 the two teams played to a 0-0 deadlock with the Rangers prevailing 1-0 in a shootout.
-Toronto has had three consecutive games go into overtime for the first time since Oct. 7-12, 2006.
-Prior to the game, Hall of Famers Harry Howell and Andy Bathgate were honoured with a banners-raising ceremony. 45 years ago on Feb. 22, 1964, Bathgate and Don McKenney were acquired by the Leafs in a blockbuster trade that sent Dick Duff, Arnie Brown, Bill Collins, Bob Nevin and Rod Seiling to the Rangers.
