Leafs Leave Edmonton With a Win

It was a strange game, or at least it was a strange goal that gave the Leafs the winner in a 6-4 shoot out.

The Leafs winning goal was actually scored by Kris Russell.  Yes, he’s an Oiler.  In trying to clear the front of his net, he swung around and shot it past his own goalie Laurent Brossoit.

The game featured frenzied end-to-end action.  Scoring for Toronto was Auston Matthews, Dominic Moore, Matt Martin, Patrick Marleau (credited on the Russell self-goal), and Nazem Kadri with the empty-netter.  Mark Letestu, Zack Kassian, Connor McDavid and Kris Russell scored for Edmonton.

Freddie Andersen faced 45 shots in his 15th win of the season.

Toronto next plays Vancouver Saturday evening.
