Doughty and Kings Lose to the Leafs

The Leafs edged the Kings  from Los Angeles by a 3-2 score Monday evening at the Air Canada Centre.

Matt Martin, Tyler Bozak, and Patrick Marleau scored for the Leafs.  Frederik Andersen stopped 36 shots in the win.

The game featured numerous  goal review.  Here are the explanations:

  • At 5:46 of the first period in tonight’s game, Los Angeles requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether Toronto’s Matt Martin interfered with Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick prior to his goal. After review, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line. Therefore the original call stands – good goal Toronto Maple Leafs.
  • At 2:28 of the third period in tonight’s game, Toronto requested a Coach’s Challenge to review the “Interference on the Goalkeeper” decision that resulted in a “no goal” call. After review, the Referee determined that Toronto’s Matt Martin interfered with Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick before the puck crossed the goal line. Therefore the original call stands – no goal Toronto Maple Leafs.
  • At 2:54 of the third period in tonight’s game, video review supported the referee’s call on the ice that Patrick Marleau’s stick was at or below the height of the crossbar when he deflected the puck into the Los Angeles net. Good goal Toronto.

The Leafs continue their homestand on Thursday when they host the Carolina Hurricanes.
