Matthews Gets Nod in Three Stars…

Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers led the league with five goals — two of which were game winners — to push the Jets to three consecutive victories this past week. Auston Matthews, named second star, scored four times and had two overtime winners as the Leafs went 2-1 on the week. Third star went to Capitals centre Nicklas Backstrom. He led the league in scoring with nine points in four games.

The Marner Shuffle…

At the Leafs practice, Mitch Marner has been shuffled to 4th line duties with Matt Martin and Dominic Moore.  Connor Brown moves up to play with James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak.

More on Marner’s Demotion…

Coach Babcock had this to say: “Let’s not read too much into this.  Their line wasn’t going so tie goes to the veteran.”

Still At Practice…

Roman Polak, who is an unrestricted free agent, continues to skate in Toronto.  The fact the Leafs have not told him to pack his bags and move on tells us that he still cound find a place on the roster.

Milestone For Keefe…

Congrats to Marlies Coach Sheldon Keefe on earning win number 100 in the AHL, as the Marlies edged Springfield 2-1 yesterday.
