Noteworthy:
-Jason Blake scored twice in 19 seconds in the third period. The Leafs’ team record for fastest two goals by one player is 6 seconds, set by Howie Meeker in 1952.
-Blake registered his fifth game-winning goal of the season. No other Leaf has more than two game-winners. In addition to registering his fifth career 20-goal season (four with NYI), Blake now has 13 goals in his past 18 games.
-Dominic Moore had two assists, giving him 6 points – all assists – in his last 4 games.
-John Mitchell’s goal was his first in 18 games.
-The Leafs five-goal outburst in the third period matched a season high for goals in a period (Nov. 1 vs. NYR).
-Sidney Crosby was held pointless for the third straight game. The drought equals a season high for the Penguins star (January 1,3, and 5).
