Marlies drop Game One in Syracuse

On Friday night, the Toronto Marlies fell 3-1 to the Syracuse Crunch in the opening game of the best-of-seven North Division Final.

Toronto’s offence was stymied after Andreas Johnsson scored the opening goal just 1:39 into the game. Goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo had an outstanding effort between the pipes and was forced to make several challenging saves, particularly in the first period.

Ex-Marlie Byron Froese haunted his former club with a goal and an assist.

The series resumes Saturday at Onondaga County War Memorial Arena.
