Leafs Send Bernier to Ducks

The Leafs have acquired a conditional pick from the 2017 NHL Entry Draft from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for goaltender Jonathan Bernier.

Bernier, 27, played in 38 games (36 starts) for Toronto during the 2015-16 season, posting a 12-21-3 record, a .908 save percentage (SV%) and 2.88 goals-against-average (GAA). The Laval, Quebec native also started in four games for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, posting a 4-0-0 record, three shutouts and a 1.25 GAA.

For his career, Bernier has an 88-88-23 record through 213 NHL games (194 starts) with 12 career shutouts, a .915 SV% and 2.67 GAA between Toronto and Los Angeles.

Bernier was originally selected by Los Angeles in the first round (11th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by Toronto from Los Angeles for Ben Scrivens, Matt Frattin, and a second round draft pick in 2015 Entry Draft on June 23, 2013.
