Leafs win draft lottery

The Toronto Maple Leafs will select first overall at the 2016 NHL Draft, as a result of the Draft Lottery held on Saturday night.

Toronto, who finished last in the regular season standings, entered with the best odds of landing the coveted first pick, at 20%.

Winnipeg will draft second, and Columbus will draft third.

The NHL Entry Draft will take place June 24-25 in Buffalo. Arizona native Auston Matthews is the top-rated prospect by the Central Scouting Bureau, and is expected to be the Leafs’ pick.
